Today, we'll look at the region of Jumilla (hue-MILL-ah) in Southwest Spain, between La Mancha and the Mediterranean Sea, a good grape-growing climate.

The grape Monestrell — known as Mourvedre in France — is making an impact here, taking up more than 80 percent of the vineyard land and producing wines of dense fruit and spice character. It uses the common grape syrah for blending, as well as the international grape Merlot.
