Down Under wine sales leave French firms with sour grapes
IT IS official: almost one in four wine bottles sold in the UK comes from Australia, largely to the detriment of Bordeaux and Loire Valley grape growers.
Consumers in Britain are increasingly being drawn to tipples produced in the Hunter Valley, Margaret River or Barossa Valley.
To add insult to injury, the only brand to which the French can lay claim on the list of Britain’s top ten wines is Jacob’s Creek(...)
